My husband and I ate here for lunch today, we ordered 2 apps and a 3 kind maki combo (3 differed kinds of rolls 6 of each kind) 1st they brought out complimentary fried wontons (excellent, fresh & crispy) and then again complimentary, a small salad with a light Asian dressing, enjoyed that, and miso soup (excellent! ) We ordered pan fried dumplings, very doughy, but good flavor and fabulous dipping sauce, and scallion pancakes fresh and good. Our apps came out quickly, and so did the maki rolls. Everything was very good, really reasonably priced, and service was fast and pleasant, we will definitely be back.
I just moved to Laconia from Plymouth. After spending 4 years in Plymouth for college, I have been excited to travel around this new town and see what it has to offer. For the last three weeks, I've been struggling to find time to scout for good sushi. I walked into this place so excited to try it out, around 8 pm. They close at 9:30. Two customers walked in before us, and for some reason walked back out. We went in anyways, but we should have just turned around.
Once a take out and once in the restaurant and both times did not like it much. The service is fast but staff seems not interested in service quality. The restaurant itself was not very clean to my standards. The menu I was given was sticky and filthy. The sushi we tried, we did not like at all. It was somewhat sweet and felt not fresh. There was a hair in the rice. It happens, but I am not going back there.
Like going here for lunch specials. Service isn't very good, but for a quick easy lunch, it's the place to go
Edit 10/21/17 I was standing in front of this restaurant at 1055 waiting for them to open. The short pudgy guy that works here (reminds me of Mr Lee from 2 broke girls tv show) unlocked the door and walked away from me... Didnt bother to hold it open, or say good morning or anything. He threw my menu on a table and walked away.
Then was standing at the front counter and the phone rang. He let it ring 10-15 times before reaching less than 2 feet to answer it...
The man at the desk said it was takeout only, and I was okay with that. He proceeded to do everything he could to turn me away, acting like he didn't know what I meant by a crunchy California roll, then answered the phone while I was speaking, in the middle of a sentence, didn't even excuse himself. I walked out and he didn't even try to stop me, he started to tend to the two customers behind me, who also were turned away. These 2 customers were upset as well. After this happened, the guy goes and closes the door.
That said, the sushi is excellent and reasonably priced. In addition to all the usual standards, Taipei Osaka has a wide range of house special maki. All of them are good. You can sit at the sushi bar and order as you go, you can order from a table, or you can order for take-out or delivery. Whichever way you do it, you'll get first-rate sushi. Taipei Osaka is, for my money, certainly the best sushi this side of Concord, possibly the best this side of Boston.
First up, a disclaimer. Taipei Osaka, as the name suggests, is a bicultural restaurant offering both Chinese and Japanese cuisine (specifically a sushi bar). I have not tried their Chinese cuisine, only their sushi.
It's OBVIOUS that you wanted to go home early, but you shouldn't be turning away customers to do it. I worked all day, I was really looking forward to spending some money and trying it out. Never will because of this one guy. Thanks for the awful first impression!
